My April Chicken Scratch was late getting out but I've got a head start on May and June. We will have some travel writers here in May and as soon as I know where their review of Lewiston will be published I will let you know.

May 4th is our annual Smelt Festival and the whole Village gets involved (in case you didn't want to be down on the water front where all the fun and music will be. (Well, not ALL, but a good portion!)
For those of you fairly local, the Garden Club is holding their annual perennial sale on May 18..
The Black Pearl will begin touring the Niagara River between here and Youngstown May 23rd. It is more than just a sail on a tall masted schooner, tour guides will give you a look into the history of Lewiston and Youngstown from the River's point of view. All the more exciting with this year being the anniversary of The War of 1812. You do need to book in advance for your tour as there is limited space on board.

Relax all evening; Start the day with a full breakfast
Gramma may have told you that breakfast is at 8 and don't be late but we encourage you to choose your preferred time to enjoy our full breakfast. Simply let us know the night before the time and food you would prefer.
We've found that the simpler down home breakfast items are in greater demand than the gourmet items. The most requested item is by far, Sunny's scones. They come in many varieties like; whole wheat, oat, multigrain, as well as blueberry, cranberry-orange, or pecan praline. Sunny makes the scones fresh every morning, so give her your preference early. Add homemade orange-honey butter to fresh baked scones warm from the oven. Send us an email and we'll share the recipe.
Breakfast at Sunny's Roost is served Family-style in our large dining room. We attempt to have a wide selection to help spark your breakfast appetite, so you can choose from the following list or ask if we can make something special. Here's just a sample of breakfast items Sunny just loves to make:
- Orange cinnamon French toast served with orange honey butter and maple syrup
- Eggs of many persuasions including omelets with assorted fillings, fritatas, stratas, and baked eggs
- Add some meat to breakfast; sausages, bangers, breakfast steaks, pork chops or bacon - Canadian or regular
- Buttermilk, whole wheat, buckwheat, oat pancakes OR waffles!
- For other choices, you have to ask
We look like a comfortable 1950's Gramma's house and we aim to treat you like her favorite grandchildren. We have luxury sheets freshly ironed and scented with lavender. Each bathroom is stocked with little items you might find difficult to pack. Like shampoo, conditioner, shower cap and hair dryer. We also keep a supply of disposable razors, lotion and make up remover towelettes. Turn down service is provided you first night and a sweet treat from the Village Bake Shoppe is left on your pillow.
